The youth national team of Belarus snatched the victory from the Russian team in overtime of the final match of the II CIS Games — 38:37 (17:14, 30:30, 35:34).
The Belarusian team was leading three goals by the break. But during the second half the Russian team not only reduced the difference, but also went ahead. In the last 10-minute Russia was 2 goals ahead and was close to handball double at the Games. But after the removal of Stefan Fedorov in the end the hosts equaled the score and a minute and a half to play they took an advantage of the loss of the ball by the Russian team and struck an empty gate. The main goal scorer of the Russian national team Kirill Akramov scored a goal with the final siren and postponed the figuring things out to overtime.
15 seconds before the end of the game Belarus led one goal and got the right for a 7-meter throw. The goalkeeper Dmitriy Koryakin reflected it, leaving a chance for his team. The retaliatory attack was unsuccessful.
