The HFR High Council approved the date and place of the match for the Super Cup of Russia among women’s teams.
Kuzbass Arena in Kemerovo will host the first official match of the season. The match will be held 30 August. The winner of the Cup of Russia and the national champion HC CSKA and the finalist of the Cup tournament HC Lada will compete for the trophy. The Russian Super Cup will be awarded for the 10th time in 2023. HC Zvezda won the first trophy, then it remained with HC Rostov-Don within seven consecutive years. Last season HC CSKA won the Cup on the third attempt. HC Lada fought for the trophy twice, but ceded to Rostov-Don both times.
Kuzbass Arena is a multifunctional sports complex which opened in Kemerovo in autumn 2022. The capacity of the stands of the main playing area is 7500 spectators. The Spring HFR Cup among children’s teams was successfully held on this arena in May 2023. The Russian Super Cup will the first professional handball match in the biggest sports complex of Kuzbass. Kemerovo region has been actively developing handball in recent years, and a match between two top-clubs will certainly facilitate the promotion of our sport in this region, — the official website of the HFR informs.
