Volgograd hosts a traditional tournament in memory of honored coach of the USSR and Russia Levon Akopyan, reports HC Dinamo-Sinara press service.
The guests from Krasnodar, Togliatti, Rostov-on-Don and Saint Petersburg came to the banks of the Volga River to honor the memory of Volgograd handball founder, who passed away in August 2018. In total 10 teams of girls born in 2011-2012 are presented. The memorial hosts set three teams headed by Anna Sidoricheva, Olga Ryazanova and Anna Lysenko.
Under the guidance of Levon Akopyan HC Dinamo Volgograd won six championships of Russia, Challenge Cup and the European Super Cup. The youth national team under his leadership became the best at the World Youth Championship. A lot of handball stars are among his wards, including the Olympic Games winners and world champions.
