The Head of the HFR Sergey Shishkarev in an interview to Sport-Express talked about the countries that are against the return of Russia to the international arena.
— I suppose that the key factor in this story with admission of the Russian athletes is that the Olympic Games will be held in the USA, that is the main negotiator on Ukraine. Obviously, if this construction works, and I believe in it, the USA will be particularly interested in admission of all Russian team sports to the Olympics. It has been 45 years since the Moscow Olympic Games and it’s undesirable to repeat that story. Because the Olympics was boycotted then. And the officials, who don’t admit our athletes, are boycotting it now.
The same women’s handball just became poor. Norway couldn't become champions two Olympics in a raw. The Norwegians became in the absence of Russia. It’s clear that Norway is openly against our admission. Norway, Denmark, France is less against. I hope that this wheel will turn soon and all national teams will be permitted to qualification for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, — the Head of the Handball Federation of Russia said.
