The Chairman of the Supreme Council of the HFR Sergey Shishkarev commented on the news about the restoration of the ROC rights by the decision of the IOC executive committee.
— Undoubtedly, this is great news that inspires some optimism and which results from diplomatic work of the ROC and sports federations. But we are waiting for a concrete reaction to this decision from the International Handball Federation which has strong grounds for bringing the national teams and professional clubs of Russia and Belarus back to the official tournaments.
Four years of isolation — is a vast period, a whole generation of young talented handball players was denied the possibility to participate in European and world championships among youth teams, the main national teams missed the Olympic Games in Paris, as well as the world and European championships. At the same time, the HFR did everything possible to make our athletes have game practice of the international level.
