The Head of the HFR High Council Sergey Shishkarev commented on the forthcoming change of power in the leadership of the International Olympic Committee.

To recall, the current head of the IOC Thomas Bach previously announced that he wouldn’t seek re-election for another term. The President of the World Athletics Sebastian Coe informed that he is ready to consider the possibility to run for the vacant office. The election of the new president of the organization will be held in March 2025 during the IOC session in Athens. The list of the candidates will be published on September 16.

 — I don’t expect anything extraordinary from the main candidate for the post of the IOC president Sebastian Coe in terms of making decisions concerning our country. The main thing is that it doesn’t get worse.

I note that the election of the President of the International Handball Federation will be held soon. Hassan Moustafa has always been supportive to Russia. I hope that a neutral, equidistant from all countries leader will head the IHF after Moustafa. I suppose, that friendly Arab countries could nominate their candidate, — matchtv.ru quotes Sergey Shishkarev.
