The Head of the HFR Sergey Shishkarev said that the handball tournament at the Olympic Games-2024 cannot be considered as legitimate
The Chairman of the HFR High Council Sergey Shishkarev stated on Match TV that the handball tournament at the Olympic Games in Paris cannot be regarded as legitimate due to the non-participation of the national team of Russia in it.
— Probably, certain competitions in other sports could be called objective in the absence of the Russian national team, but it is completely impossible without the Olympic champion in Rio and vice-champion of the Olympic Games in Tokyo. I am not just saying this since I represent the Handball Federation of Russia, but because I’ve always supported fair sport. That is why the tournament at the Games-2024 can’t be called legitimate.
It is definitely a political campaign, moreover it was primarily launched on the part of Denmark and Norway. After all, the dream to become an Olympic champion becomes a bit more realistic in the absence of the national team of Russia. I wish girls and guys to play without injuries, but, obviously, I can’t and won’t support anyone in such circumstances.
And I will call for the prompt return of our teams, with even more sporting anger, with further motivation to prove that we are the best. And we will certainly do it. In the men’s handball as well, — Sergey Shishkarev told Match TV.
