Yuri Shevtsov: "We, the athletes, should unite the world. Everyone I talked to, wants to play with us. All that remains is to train and to wait"

The head coach of the Belarusian national team Yuri Shevtsov summed up the results of the sparring with the Russians.

 — It is clear, that in the current situation we should stand together. We should play, get practice — our teams are in equal conditions. I congratulate the Russian national team with victories. Both matches turned out to be approximately the same for me. The play was mostly friendly, there was no particular ruthlessness on the court.

This time Viktor Kireev reflected too much throws in the first half, having made that difference in several balls, which we had to play back during the whole meeting. We didn’t succeed, but if compared with the previous game, the team showed its character. And without the unfortunate loss in the final minutes, it could have been a draw. But finally we lost, we have to work on mistakes. We don’t have a wide choice of candidates to the national team, we should raise and train the players. A serious analysis, primarily statistics remains to be done in order to understand, how the players fulfilled their task. See you soon in Minsk.

 — What do you think about the possibility of returning to international arena through Asia?

 — At the moment we hear more talk, as soon as they proceed to particular actions, then we will be able to  discuss something. One German specialist said correctly: «The politicians shouldn’t require from sport what they are unable to do themselves». That is the main point.

It is unclear, what is being demanded of us, while we are athletes and we have to unite the world. Everyone I spoke with wants to play with us. All that remains is to train and to wait. We want to play handball with everyone. But in this situations very little depends on us, — Sport Express quotes the words of Shevtsov.
