The Chairman of the High Council of the Russian Handball Federation Sergey Shishkarev informed that shooting a film about the victory of the Russian women’s handball national team at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro will start in the winter 2025. The project will be dedicated to the tenth anniversary of this historical achievement.

 — The film will most likely be called Handmade gold. This name is symbolic, it represents not only the gold itself, but also the peculiarity of the game of handball, where mind, heart and hands are important. This drama begins filming in winter. It would be desirable to finish it by the tenth anniversary of the victory at the Olympics — in 2026, — Shishkarev said.

He added that the scenery is already in its sixth version, and the team is actively working on its refining. Shishkarev emphasized, that emotions and drama of the victory will be thoroughly expressed in the film, and several scenes may be shot in nature, perhaps, even at the Copacabana beach in Brazil.

The women's handball national team of Russia won gold medals for the first time in history at the 2016 Olympics after beating the national team of France with a score of 22:19.
