The name of the new head coach of the national team of Russia was announced.
Lev Voronin heads the national team. From 2015 to 2017 he was a member of the coaching staff of the national team, headed by Dmitry Torgovanov. He trained HC Dinamo Astrakhan and HC Permskie Medvedi before. He is the CEO of the HFR since 2016.
— I am thankful to Sergey Nikolaevich Shishkarev for the trust. I can immediately promise that such appointment won’t affect my work in the Handball Federation of Russia. Probably, it was an unexpected offer for everyone and for me. However, to head the national team has always been my dream. I used to work with Dmitriy Nikolaevich Torgovanov, but as an assistant. I can say that currently we have a plan and there is an understanding where to grow. In our opinion, we have to gather the youngest and the most ambitious team, to instill the desire for achievement of the highest goals. At the same time, experienced guys don’t leave the team, the door will be always open for them.
I would appreciate it if Valentin Buzmakov would stay in the staff. I worked in Perm with him, he is a growing specialist. I will present the vision of the coaching staff to Sergey Shishkarev, — Lev Voronin said.
