The national team of Russia was stronger than the Belarusian team in the second friendly match on Wednesday, 17 April (38:31).
The head coach of the Russian team Lyudmila Bodniyeva and the line player Victoria Shamanovskaya shared their impressions about the last game.
— If we could praise the team for the first half yesterday, it was the second half that became commendable today. We didn’t cope with long-distance throws of Alina Kishko, so we had to rearrange after the break and it produced results. In general, we are pleased with the game and final result, but, as we always say after each held match, we have things to work on. A detailed debriefing is not scheduled for today, since the majority of girls are already leaving to their clubs in the next hour. But, of course, each games is analyzed, and this match won’t be an exclusion. I would like to thank Astrakhan for a very warm welcome. It has been pointed out repeatedly, that Zvezdny is an inspiring place for Russian women’s handball. The supporters proved it once again within those two days. Everything was excellent here — the arena, fans, the organization of these matches was at a very high level. — First of all, thanks to the team of Belarus for these two matches and for coming to Astrakhan. There are no international competitions now, and we have to maintain shape somehow, so the held sparring was very important for us. The national team of Belarus really did its best, they increase each time. We completed our tasks, but, of course, we always do something more effectively and something worse. Yesterday game went a bit differently, today it took us longer to tune in. We made mistakes in the first half, that led to the ball losses, that allowed our rivals to catch up with us. We were more concentrated and responsive to our tasks after the break and finally achieved the victory, — Shamanovskaya said.
