The Chairman of the High Council of the Handball Federation of Russia Sergey Shishkarev in the interview to the HFR official web-site told about the situation with the head coach of the men’s national team of Russia Velimir Petkovic.
— We saw information of the German mass media, which suppose that Velimir Petkovic will leave the national team of Russia. I would like to emphasize that the final point regarding this issue hasn’t been made yet. The contract with Petkovic is valid until July, and we will discuss future in the nearest future. It’s important to be guided by the coach’s opinion as well as by the interest of the Federation in further work with Velimir. We will weight up all the arguments and make a decision. It’s a pity that the national team of Russia doesn’t participate in official international competitions now. It would have been a completely different situation that would allow to assign specific sports tasks to the coaching staff. The men’s national team will have the next training session in summer, we have time to make a decision, — Shishkarev said.
