The team from Saint-Petersburg played in a friendly match with the Belarusian national team, the future member of the II Games of the CIS countries. The head coach of HC Zenit Dmitriy Torgovanov shared his opinion on the past tournament on the club’s VK page:
— To a certain extent, this match was more important for our competitors, who are at a somewhat different stage of game preparation. However, we also could use the meeting in our own purpose. At least to evaluate the physical readiness of the team. Obviously, it was hard to expect qualified interactions on the court, since we held only three trainings with balls. Moreover, one of them was not long before the match. So, it was easy to predict the high number of losses. We tried to divide the playing time between our players equally. At the same time we watched Belarusian juniors, who proved to be talented players, greedy for victories at the same time. The extension of the training session is ahead of us. Though, I don’t exclude that we will hold another test match before the Belgazprombank Cup, — Torgovanov said.
