SEHA-Gazprom League. East division. Dmitriy Kiselev: "I told guys during time-out: I’m going to throw. It was completely my initiative"

3 October 2022

The right back of HC CSKA Dmitriy Kiselev threw 9 balls to the gates of HC Zenit Saint Petersburg in the match of the 1st tour of SEHA-League, which allowed to avoid the Moscow team loosing, (final score 29:29). After the match Handballfast gave the floor to the best player of the capital team.

 — Of course, Zenit didn’t want to start its way with a defeat, especially in such a tournament as SEHA-League. Neither we should have overshadowed the tournament start by a loss. So, everyone should be happy.

The play was very interesting and the score might be predictable. The organization is worth mentioning, though I wasn’t surprised. As expected, everything was at the highest level indeed.

Concerning the drops during the match, we had a good start, we had advantage, but then an attacking disorder started, and productive retaliatory attacks began. Swing is the right word in this regard.

We have much to analyze and improve. But do you know, what encouraged me? The fact that we didn’t give up, even loosing 4 goals, didn’t squander fighting qualities, that we managed to level the score. In terms of psychology, well done!

Yes, 10-11 seconds were left, we possessed the ball, our head coach Oleg Khodkov took a time out. And when we came to play 7 against 6, I warned everyone that I’m going to throw the ball. We didn’t conceive anything, I just lead the way. But my throw got into the bar, — Dmitriy Kiselev told Handballfast.
