The Handball Federation of Russia received a letter signed by the president of the EHF Michael Wiederer on November 6 thanking the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the HFR Sergey Shishkarev for the congratulations on his re-election as president of the organization. The head of the European handball noted that despite the current situation, they intend to maintain communication to solve the most operational issues.
"The situation remains the same at the moment, and we feel negative consequences for all participants of handball community. We have to consider all possible options and find the best way to overcome the situation. I suggest that we should meet to exchange information on issues related to new format of handball competitions. I wish all the best to you and Russian handball", — Michael Wiederer said.
To recall, the Austrian official was elected to the presidency of the EHF on September 19.
— For our part, we’ve been in contact with key sports authorities and its leadership all three and a half years, we didn’t leave hope for the return of the national teams and clubs of Russia and Belarus to the international arena. I thank the president of the EHF Michael Wiederer for the messaging he had pointed out in his letter, we will definitely hold a working meeting to discuss the most relevant topics. We also plan to attend the IHF Congress in Egypt in December where elections of the president and the executive staff of the IHF will be held. We will take an active position to defend our legal rights. "Policy has no place in sport" - the words of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin at the forum "Russia — is a sporting nation" in Samara speak eloquently about our country’s position in relation to suspension of Russian athletes from participation in international competitions, — the official website of the HFR quotes the words of Sergey Shishkarev’s.
