The Head of the HFR Sergey Shishkarev commented on holding the matches for the Super Cup of Russia.
— The men’s clubs CSKA and Zenit will play for the trophy in Volgograd on August 23. The HFR sometimes holds such games on neutral sites. For instance, the women’s clubs CSKA and Lada met two years ago in Kemerovo, and a real handball holiday was organized for Siberians. A new arena in Volgograd, which has recently become a home arena for Dinamo-Sinara, has already proven itself from the best side. A tournament involving the national teams of Russia and Belarus was held there in April. I suppose, it will be very interesting for the Volgograd supporters to watch live the competition of the best men's clubs of Russia.
Concerning the women’s Super Cup, there’s no need to present the competition between CSKA and Rostov. It is always a storm of emotions, incredible stories on the court and just an hour of great handball. We suggested that the match would be held in Rostov-on-Don in the local Sports Palace where preparation for the resumption of matches is underway. But the club informed the HFR that it cannot guarantee the readiness of the arena in all directions by the 30th of August. Thus, the match for the Super Cup between CSKA and Rostov-Don will be held in a well-known capital Dynamo Sports Palace on Vasilisa Kozhina Street.
