The head coach of HC CSKA Oleg Khodkov in an interview to stavkinasport.com summed up the results of the previous season and shared plans for the upcoming.
— How difficult was the past season for your team?
— It was really hard. Many players were replaced, the squad was considerably renewed. Many athletes had injuries. We faced different situations, but it is all a working process, from which we emerged victorious. Despite all the difficulties, I saw the potential of my team as always, though we hadn’t been the favorites of the past championship of Russia before the play-offs.
— Did the players take into account and implement all your instructions?
— The work continued throughout the whole season. As I’ve already mentioned, we ended up the preliminary stage taking fourth place due to objective reasons. And everyone decided that CSKA didn’t demand anything this season. But personally I never doubted my team and I’m very happy that this confidence passed on to athletes.
— What plans does the team have for the next season?
— Our plan is always the same — to win. We are not going to cancel or change our goals.
— What are the main principles of work with your wards?
— The most difficult in training is to make the players work. Twenty people with their own characters and mood are against one coach. The most important requirement for the players is to perceive rudeness and toughness during debriefing and conversation in a rigid form not personally, but only as athletes, not performing their work, — Oleg Khodkov said.
