The president of the Norway Handball Federation Kare Geir Lio allowed himself offensive to Russian sport statements.
The head of the HFR Sergey Shishkarev expressed this opinion to TASS on Monday. The IHF Ethic Commission gave a warning to the president of the NHF, who has repeatedly demanded the exclusion of Russia from the IHF and the European Handball Federation, insisted on termination of contracts with Russian and Belarusian sponsors.
— It is our clear victory, I am thankful to the International Federation for the objectivity. We didn’t have bloodlust, we just wanted to establish the truth. His announcements undermined my business reputation, insulted me and whole Russian sport, we heard baseless and unsustained accusations. As a result, he was found guilty, the Ethics Commission didn’t accept his explanations.
The Norwegians allow themselves too much. And I understand the reason — they are offended after losing two semifinals at the Olympics. Last time in Tokyo they created such an informational background, exerted strong pressure on us, threatened to put us to the ground. But finally our girls came and beat them.
It is important that even in conditions of the current sanction pressure and absolute bias to our sportsmen we ensured that the announcements of the NHF head have been declared unreasonable and defamatory, — noted Sergey Shishkarev.
